Some things left in the past

Some things are best left in the past. 

Life, a delicate dance of balance. Some things are best left in the past. 

To love, to lose, to die. Some things are best left in the past. 

Mistakes don't fix themselves. Successes don't last till daylight. Some things are best left in the past. 

Forgetting the highs. Forgetting the lows. Forgetting the need for redemption. Some things are best left in the past. 

Flying in the highs of the angels and the spirit. Drowning in the dark with the demons and the cold. Some things are best left in the past. 

There is no God. There is no true atheism.There is no continuation of life. There is no immortal soul. Everywhere you turn there is the rushing sound of the void.  But still some things are best left in the past. 

Some have the word, some have their feelings, some they're science. But no one can take it all with them. Some things are best left in the past. 

Things left in the past linger, languish, and die. What choice do we have?, they cried out. We have to!!, they shouted. We had to do what was best for us, they sobbed... 

Some things are best left in the past.

From the best of us. To the best parts of us. To forgotten memory, to forgotten lives, forgotten dreams. Some things are best left in the past. But not all things left in the past are best.
