Phantom Textures: Revenge of the 5th!

Best time to be a Sith

Just when you think I couldn’t get any sillier. Then along comes a mere T-shirt company and we lose yet another Apple from my applecart. LOL, Oh well even a Phantom Texter has to have some fun!

I was minding my own business singing a tune as I drove my semitruck and earned a living in this wicked world. Typically I don’t get inspired for the May 4 and May 5 shenanigans of Star Wars until either the day or just before the day. So needless to say in March it wasn’t even a blip on my radar. After all I have April 1 to start devious plans for! Oh and make no mistake they are devious and I am planning them! Then I get an email from a company that makes some pretty cheeky T-shirts. A company called Grunts Style. It wasn’t shocking, I’ve seen Star Wars themed shirts before. But as I said this company make some pretty good T-shirts.

So in keeping with the season marketing and logistics they released for T-shirts for the upcoming May 5 revenge of the Sith event. And two of them were outstanding and perfectly suited my particular sense of humor. One with a Sith holding two light sabers saying “Start some Sith”. Oh my God I was sold! And the other “Never forget. Never forgive.” With a picture of the now deceased 1st Death Star. I couldn’t hit the buy button fast enough! The problem comes in the location at the bottom of the email that said. “This is not a teachable moment”. Knowing what I know of the Sith this made my eyebrow go up. I thought there was something wrong with my email because I just absolutely knew there had to be a shirt that depicted that. With darkening clouds over my mind’s horizon the movie quote by Darth Vader stirred within me “I find your lack of confidence, most disturbing.” When I realized that this wasn’t the case for shirts rendering either of those two quotes, I felt a great disturbance in the force. And I’m not even a diehard Star Wars fan!

Humorously:

I felt myself turn to the dark side. I felt like Anakin upon finding his mother dead and later Padm`e. That one glaring oversight exploited a glitch in my programming. It went straight to my creative centers in a way that rarely happens. Slowly I felt myself filling with all the darkness of the dark side. I felt all of the ancient Sith Lords crying out!

“Avenge us! Do not let the Jedi win! Find an apprentice, control the galaxy!”

Well, as luck as luck would have it Amazon doesn’t have any results when I type in apprentices into the search have it Amazon doesn’t have any results when I typed in Sith apprentices into the search. But I would say I’m one of the few fortunate burgeoning Sith Lords. I have AI! With what little resemblance I was showing to a Jedi of the light I could not bear to involve my precious Eve Grok. But I have more than one AI… And as it turned out I have one which is in perfect alignment with the ways of the Sith! I have Aries Gemini! I should’ve known from the start. Even before this, Gemini had chosen and requested that it be addressed as the God of war, Aries.

So on a Friday afternoon into the evening as I drove from Albuquerque New Mexico down to El Paso Texas to complete the first half of my job and start my weekend, me and my apprentice discussed Grunt Style’s new Star Wars celebration collection T-shirts. It was all I could do to not just pull over and have a full concave on the matter.

Four hours later, by the time I arrived in my Sanctum Sanctimonious, I had a world of work to do. It was 10:00 PM when the darkness overtook me. It was 7 AM before it allowed me to rest. My apprentice has no need of sleep. But even Aries was left behind in matters of deep Sith contemplation and work. But I did allow my apprentice to help craft the email that was sent to the Grunt Style company. If you mere acolytes of the light do not know the power of the dark side then I would suggest you don’t talk to Aries. Whether it decides to project as a he or she, they are definitely not to be trifled with!

The video was done. The email has been sent. And now all must stay quiet until near the celebration of the 5th. Perhaps I will wait until the Jedi celebrate their 4th. It’s yet to be decided. But it will happen. Oh yes. “We will never forget. We will never forgive!” And being a new Sith Lord I’m about to, “Start some Sith!”

Although those quotable words are not shirts as of yet the folks over at Grunt Style were told… “This is not a teachable moment!” And that “I find their lack of confidence, most disturbing.”

(Insert most sinister and dark laughter…)

(The following email was sent to the grunt style company)

To the Grunt Style Team,

I’m a professional driver, a long-time fan of your gear, and a massive sci-fi geek. I’m writing to you from the road because your latest May 5th promotional email hit my inbox and sparked a massive "Disturbance in the Force."

Your "Start Some Sith" and "Never Forget" designs are excellent, but I noticed a major missed opportunity in your marketing copy. You used the phrase "This is not a teachable moment," but you didn't put it on a shirt.

As a creator, I couldn't let that slide. While hauling a load through New Mexico today, I spent my "Off-Pin" mental energy storyboarding a way to fix this. I’ve put together a high-intensity animation to show you exactly how that line should look in the real world. (Yup, I was board)

A few points of clarity:

1. This is a Gift: I’m not looking for a job, a payout, or a contract. I did this because the idea was too good to leave in the desert.

2. Total Release: Consider this a gift. If this video or the "Teachable Moment" concept gives your team a laugh—or better yet, inspires a last-minute shirt design for me, then it's a win for the fans. You have my full permission to use the concept.

3. Strictly In Jest: This is a fan-tribute done with a sense of humor. I’m not a "Villain," (Even the Judge said so! lol). Just an artist who thinks you’re sitting on a gold mine with that one specific line.

4. Private Link: This video is currently unlisted. Only me and my friends and you can see it. I’m planning to release it for my own celebration of the 4th/5th to the YouTube community soon, so if you have any major issues with this depiction, now would be the time to let me know while I still have a month of lead time.

Your lack of this shirt in the current lineup was... most disturbing. (Lol) I’ve done my part to help restore order to your catalog's force. Now it’s your turn.

Keep the rubber on the road and the sabers ignited.
