They like me! Oh no, they like me....

Doomsday 12

Chapter one
At the tone the time will be 12 days.

Somewhere in California the white lab coat suited scientist have gotten together and have decided to move the hands of the Doomsday Clock one more tick to obliteration. The time is now 12 days to Doomsday.

How did it all come to this? Some say it's from a lack of communication. Some say is from a lack of empathy. I say it's from good old-fashioned greed. The end is coming and there's no profit in stopping it.

Everybody's going about their day as though they had more than days left. The national news doesn't even talk about doomsday anymore. At times I often wonder will it really end? I mean how could it? I'm old enough to remember too big to fail. Isn't this too-big-to-fail? It's Google Plus for god sakes!

I guess the people have created refugee camps over at Facebook and MeWe. I know better than to trust any of those. Hell one of them is just a dumpster fire waiting the burn everyone in it. There's been no mobilization of the National Guard. No staging of supplies and blankets by FEMA. You would think they feel that life is just going to continue. Doesn't anybody realize they moved the hands on the Doomsday Clock?!

I know in disaster preparation logistics are almost as much as security. And here I am driving an 18-wheeler with no security and not much in the way of logistics. Being a former reconnaissance specialist you would think I would have prepared better. Just what do I have? How long before the mobs pull me out of this truck and take what little I have? Well at least I'm on a lowly populated road in a place where the internet is still a novelty. Maybe I'll make it. What about the people I know?

Michael, Bruce, and Massey are right in the highest social media traffic zones besides California. Being the ex-marine in the group I hope Massey can lead them out of it. Since Bruce is now a drone pilot he should be able to give them some heads up on the crowds that are sure to start roaming the streets and internet cafes everywhere just looking for a place congregate in their social media mobs. God I hope they're able to get Michael and his family free of the media mobs before they get caught up. Although I heard he's headed for the MeWe refugee camp. Leslie is a little too close to Dallas. But I think him and his wife will weather the storm. Even mobs need to eat.

I would imagine overseas Sayana and Tina will find a way to weather it out. You know Tina will probably relocate on some Himalayan Mountain and ride it out. But what about Sayana? How will I know that she's made it?

Just 12 days. And all I can see are people moving like zombies as though, nothing. Total apathy to the end of Google Plus. Isolated here and there a post is written by someone saying goodbye to loved ones, lamenting the good times. But the general public seems oblivious to the end of Google Plus. The Doomsday Clock has been moved, tick, 12 days

  1. LOL!
    I feel jealousy of you.
Perhaps, in the entire g+ platform, you only can write great goodbye stories.

In the starting strange metaphor 's are used, and yes,a difference is there!
Many of your friends have still confusion about their refuge .
In my case,I am in MeWe, but not best find there as in g+.
One of the poetry group owner expressed their disappointment in it.
But I am trying my maximum to post there.
Not sure..how much I can do there.
    Yes..I know g+ was great!

  3. First things first, thanks for sharing another of your entertaining epics. Like a wolf howling at the moon in the dead of night , it conjurs up a deep fear, and uneasiness that just can't be ignored. Also thanks for the shout out. Being included in one of your Nostradamus qua trains, means my name will survive the coming void of darkness, even if I may not . Lol
    Peace my brother,
    Les

    1. And thanks to you. To know that it is thought of that way is an honorific that I waited too long in my life to hear.
