They like me! Oh no, they like me....

The saddest sound

Today I heard the saddest sound....

...

There, did you hear it? The sound of a broken heart in an empty room. The sound of dust falling in a silent crypt of dreams. I know there was the sound of laughter and light just outside in the background. But just for a second did you hear it? Wait a second let me play it again.....

Did you hear the slow repetition of the notes played in that odd wobbling key? The sounds of a tear falling into fine powdered sand? The sound that comes just after the last heartbeat? The sound of a soul failing to rise after the chariots call? Odd how you can still hear the sounds of a fireworks display hovering on the explosions of color just off to the right. But, right there. In between the explosions of joy. I know you can hear that lonely note......

That rainy day melody that swoops lower only to come back to the sound before the rain drops fall. See!, right there! That sound of a eagerly opened empty mailbox. Yes, you hear it! That cord that sounds like an opened door empty. Yes the one that's starts just before that sound in the background the sound of an unexpected beautiful day. Listen closer......

Ah, how masterful this composer is. In the midst of all that background joy and life. Ignoring the sounds of triumph and love everlasting. Still able to craft a sound so primordial, so define, and so natural to the ear. I could just lose myself in it for days.....

Even in the typed words, it can still be played. Listen to how it goes.

Pain pain cry. Sad sad why? Heartbeat stop die..... withered tree fallen skint knee. Hand to sky beg. Darklight pride shed!

Oh, wait this is my favorite part.

Witness hope for others, hope for you fled... tears, tears, shed. Lonely lonely words said. Always wishes ash caked bitter bread. Over and over painful thoughts heart, head.

See, I told you! I know just ignore for a second that background sound of joy and rebirth. Just before the tones of bright righteous elation. You'll hear it. Funny how I can hear it so clearly. Oh well, I guess some people just don't have an ear for music....

    1. That would be something. But I find that people who break Hearts do so because they can't hear them.

  3. It is so beautifully written and sadly true. No one ever listens to the sound of heartbreak, yet it does exist. You normally have good music choices for your writing, this one is perfectly timed in every way. Thanks James🌝
