They like me! Oh no, they like me....

Delusions of Flight

Delusions of Flight

There once was a bird. And he dreamed about flying higher and faster than any of the other birds. He studied long and hard to be the best at flying. The other birds rushed to it and they could only fly so high so fast. But this bird took his time because he wanted to fly higher and faster than any of the other birds. One day long after the other birds had flown, he took to the air, he flew! He flew fast, He flew far, and he flew high! He was happy and he soared!

But before long something went wrong, he waited too long. He studied too hard. He fell. And when he fell none of the other birds even noticed. They were all happy flying where they flew. They were not concerned about the bird that flew too late, too high, too fast. He fell.

As he lay, looking up at all the other birds flying where they flew, he knew. He was never really a bird at all. And none saw him fall because none saw him fly.

What's the point to this? There is no moral to this story. There is no happy or sad ending. It just is. This is how it looks, looking up. From a bird not a bird who flew but didn't fly who was fast but not fast enough. From his broken place in this world waiting for the end of the story....
