Long ago and Far away
In the middle of Long ago and Far away.
Are humans real? Is humanity truly a thing? Yeah, I know I've read the brochures, "Come for the dinner. Stay for the experience." But truly is that really all there is to humanity?
The first person to stand tall and proud and scream to the world I am human! But was he truly? Or was he standing over the last true human who he had just killed and took his name?
From here, I thought I was human. I thought I understood what it meant to have a sense of humanity. But then I watch and see that the ones who claim to have it down are so far from what I've become. Was I reading the manual upside down?
Is someone playing a prank and rearranged the library definitions in my book? Because I've seen their definition and something ain't right. Love is until you don't anymore. Hate is something you can have as long as you don't say it. Pain is freely given as long as you say you didn't mean it. The only bad guys are the other ones. But there's usually never a clearly defined definition to the other ones, other than they must be other.
If that's what it means to be human I have gotten it so wrong for so long. and what I think of humanity has driven me out here to the middle of Long ago and Far away. In the troubleshooting section of "To be Human with Humanity" it says to isolate yourself away from people who pretend to be humans with humanity. So now I find myself alone far away.
I just knew this is where the other humans would find themselves to get away from pretenders. Could it be? Could it be that I'm the pretender? I never could get that Ikea furniture to go together right. Could I be reading the instructions backwards? That could account for the looks that I get. And here I was thinking it was my hip and trendy hairstyle.
Well, such is life. One minute you're a human with humanity. Next minute you're living in the middle of Long ago and Far away as a Phantom. Untouched, unseen, and unhuman with no humanity in sight....

This writing was put in my mind by one of my readers. I won't mention any names because I don't want them to feel embarrassed. But what's the old saying? "Stones don't float but if you throw them just right, they will skip."
LOL okay for those of you who got it please help the ones who didn't.
I knew you were going to do this, Rayless!!!! (do a blog on Long Ago
ReplyDeleteand Far Away) You didn't disappoint. This is brilliant, as per usual. It's
a great statement and description of humanity in many regards. But we
all know that isolation is not the answer. Humans are so desperate for
the company of other humans that we start talking to ourselves just to
hear the human voice. And this medium we are using to communicate
with one another right now is both a blessing and means to connect with
people we would Never connect with in any other measure...and yet, a true
Curse to keep us at arm's length and from making eye contact and communing
on a truly human level. I have been alone in the midst of crowds and I have
been surrounded by love and companionship when I have been alone.
Life is a mystery. Humans are a mystery. Love is a mystery. But without
those three things....this planet would just be a big dead rock orbiting forever
in Long ago and Far Away........and we would not be having this " conversation."
Right??? I get you. I always have. I read you, I pray for you, I think about you
out of the blue sometimes. You are a real person to me. And if just one person
in the world knows you and understands you...doesn't that make it all worthwhile?
Voo 😎😍
LOL I appreciate that you liked it so much. Your words are of course correct. That is one way to see it all. And I appreciate that that is the way you see it. LOL
DeleteWait until tomorrow's. Hehehe
